Students, after they pass the 8th grade, continue their education at Sequatchie County High School located next door.
The school's colors are Purple and Gold, and its mascot is the Braves
SCMS Is an affiliate of the Tennessee Middle School Athletic Association (TMSAA)
The school's athletic teams go by the nickname "Braves" for the boys teams and "Lady Braves" for the girls teams. Two years ago the SCMS baseball team allowed 6th graders to play on the team.
